Ekko – Recurrent fits best in a rune‑tempo or combo‑control deck that values resource loops, repeated rune refreshing, and incremental advantage over raw board stats, since Accelerate lets it enter ready for immediate impact while Deathknell converts its death into rune recovery, fueling spell-heavy or energy‑hungry lines; it’s especially strong in decks built around sacrificing units, self‑mill, or recursion where you can reliably trigger the recycle effect and maintain momentum. However, in more aggressive midrange or stat-focused decks, a more immediately impactful 5‑cost such as a high‑pressure threat or a unit with direct board swing (for example, a card that readies all runes on play rather than on death, or one that generates immediate tempo without extra energy investment) would typically be better, since Ekko requires setup and synergy to outperform simpler value options. Overall, it should see play primarily in synergy-driven rune combo shells rather than as a generic 5‑drop,
