Acceleration Gate is best in combo-ramp or Gear-heavy decks that can turn the ready effect into a major mana swing—especially lists that want to play an expensive follow-up card in the same turn, reuse exhausted Gear, or ready units after they have attacked/conquered so they can still defend; it is much less attractive in ordinary aggro or midrange decks, where spending 3 mana without immediately affecting the board is a major tempo loss. There is not a universally “better” replacement because its ability to ready up to four targets is unusually flexible, but cheaper direct ramp, card draw, or unit-ready effects are generally better when your deck only needs one of those functions rather than all of them. It should see play only if your deck can regularly gain at least four meaningful readies—ideally recovering the three runes spent to cast it plus one or more Gear or units—otherwise it is likely too situational for competitive use.
