Direwing would fit best in a Dragon-tribal midrange or ramp deck that can reliably have another Dragon in play by turn 7, since entering ready effectively gives it pseudo-haste or immediate board impact, which is crucial for such an expensive card; decks that accelerate resources or curve out with sturdy midgame Dragons would benefit most. However, for a 7-cost card to be competitive, it generally needs either immediate impact (damage, removal, strong summon effect) or game-ending pressure, so if there are Dragons at similar or lower cost that generate value on play, protect themselves, or swing the board instantly, those would likely be better in faster or more interactive metas. Direwing should see play primarily if its stats are above rate for its cost or if Dragon synergy is already strong in the format; otherwise, in a highly competitive environment, more independently powerful top-end threats may outclass it.
