A deck that focuses on midrange or control strategies in a green-heavy deck would benefit from including Beast Within as it offers versatile removal while also providing a creature token that can apply pressure or block opposing threats. While there may be better removal options in other colors, Beast Within's flexibility and ability to deal with any permanent type make it a strong choice for decks looking for a catch-all answer. It should definitely see play in the right deck.

If the permanent is still a legal target but is not destroyed (perhaps because it regenerated or has indestructible), its controller still gets the Beast token.

If the permanent is an illegal target when Beast Within tries to resolve, the spell won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. The permanent’s controller won’t get a Beast token.
