Existential Dread fits best in tempo-control or reactive midrange decks that want to disrupt combat while preserving flexibility, especially decks that hold up energy during the opponent’s turn and capitalize on stalled boards. Because it only costs 1, it’s efficient interaction early, and the repeat clause lets control decks with excess energy convert it into a powerful bounce effect against already-stunned threats, making it especially strong versus single large attackers or decks that rely on one key combat unit. It synergizes well with other stun or tap effects, since turning a prior stun into a forced return to hand creates strong tempo swings. However, in faster aggro mirrors it may be too reactive, and in hard control mirrors it may lack impact if opponents rely less on combat units.
