Elder Dragon fits best in a late-game control or ramp-style deck that can reliably reach 12 resources and stall the board, since its global “any amount of damage kills” effect turns pings and small damage effects into hard removal and its play ability can potentially clear multiple locations at once; it synergizes especially well with decks that run widespread chip-damage tools, repeatable 1-damage effects, or board-wide damage spells to convert them into full wipes. However, because 12 is extremely expensive, faster control finishers or cheaper board wipes that immediately swing tempo without requiring additional setup are often more efficient, meaning Elder Dragon is likely a niche finisher rather than an auto-include—strong in dedicated damage-synergy builds, but generally outclassed in consistency by lower-cost, immediate-impact threats unless the meta is very slow.
