Mystic Vortex mainly helps proactive, board-first decks that plan to commit threats openly and win showdowns without leaning on combat tricks, because it punishes opponents for using `Reaction` cards and especially makes hidden-card interaction clunkier; that makes it best as a meta call into environments where people rely heavily on hidden cards, ambush-style play, or reactive blowouts, while control, combo, or your own reaction-dense lists usually should avoid it since the tax is symmetrical. I would not call it a staple or a card that should see broad play, but I also would not say there is a strict always-better replacement from this effect alone; rather, it is a narrow tech card whose value depends almost entirely on how many reaction-heavy decks you expect to face, so it should see play only in specific sideboard-style or metagame-targeted builds, not as a default include.
