Shadow Watcher fits best in a sacrifice- or attrition-based midrange deck that consistently has friendly units dying during the Beginning Phase—typically through upkeep sacrifices, self-damage triggers, expendable tokens, or delayed-destruction effects—so it can reliably enter ready and immediately pressure the board or threaten interaction without losing tempo. Decks built around recurring fodder, death triggers, or value loops would benefit most, as they can turn its condition from situational upside into a consistent tempo swing. However, if the format includes more reliable 4-cost units that either enter ready unconditionally, generate immediate value (such as card draw or removal), or have stronger baseline stats without setup, those would generally be better in less synergistic builds. Shadow Watcher should see play only if your deck can trigger its condition consistently; otherwise, it’s likely outclassed by more self-sufficient 4-cost options.
