However, at a cost of 8, it competes with more consistent finishers—cards like Emberlord Titan (which provides permanent stats and a board impact) or Blazing Ascension (a cheaper burst buff that can target multiple units or provide evasion) are generally stronger because they either stick around or offer better rate-to-impact value. As a result, Whiteflame Protector is likely too expensive for most optimized aggressive lists and too temporary for control, so while it could function as a surprise finisher in niche combo or big-mana builds, it probably should not see regular competitive play unless the format heavily rewards single-turn burst damage.
