Cataclysmic Duel would mainly suit slow control or midrange decks that can afford to spend 8 mana and already have a single high-value unit they’re happy to keep on board, since it acts like a big selective reset that punishes go-wide strategies; it gets worse if your deck usually has multiple units you care about, because you also lose your own board. In most cases, cheaper and cleaner sweepers or unconditional removal are better than this kind of expensive “one unit survives” effect, so unless Riftbound’s card pool lacks strong board clears, I’d call this a niche tech card rather than a staple, and it should only see play if the metagame is very board-heavy and your deck is built to break parity with one dominant unit.
