Consuming Curse looks best in a grindy, spell-heavy attrition or control deck that wants efficient removal early and naturally scales into stronger spot removal later as copies pile up in the trash, especially if the deck has self-mill, discard, recursion, or other ways to stock duplicate spells; it is much less attractive in aggressive decks, which usually want damage that goes face or affects tempo immediately rather than a card that only hits units at a battlefield. The card’s ceiling is strong because later copies can become very mana-efficient removal, but its floor is merely 2-cost deal 2, so whether it should see play depends on how reliably your deck can turn on the bonus damage and whether the format has important units in the 3–5 health range that this can answer cleanly. I would consider it playable and potentially very good in dedicated graveyard-value shells, but probably not a universal staple; without support, more consistent removal cards are usually better than synergy
