Hextech Anomaly fits best in combo or engine-focused decks that care more about converting excess or flexible rune resources into Energy at instant speed than about raw rate, especially decks that can generate rainbow runes efficiently or that trigger powerful effects off gaining Energy during reactions; its [Reaction] speed makes it appealing in reactive control-combo shells that want to hold up interaction and then convert unused runes into Energy at the last moment. However, because it requires both 3 upfront cost and additional rune payment, it’s generally inefficient compared to more direct Energy generators or cheaper exhaust-based accelerants that provide fixed, above-rate Energy without extra resource input—so unless your deck specifically benefits from variable scaling or rainbow-rune synergy, more streamlined Energy ramp cards will usually be better.
