About Walking Roost
Walking Roost, Unit, designed by Xavier Leroux first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Unleashed.
**Walking Roost** looks best in a midrange or tempo-control deck that wants resilient threats and doesn’t mind giving the opponent a small unit in exchange for long-term value; [Deflect] makes it awkward to remove efficiently, so it fits especially well in decks that tax the opponent’s resources or punish wide boards, since the 1‑Might Bird token is relatively minor and also has [Deflect], making it more annoying than powerful. It’s less ideal in aggressive decks (too slow at 5 cost) or in hard control (which prefers units that generate immediate card or board advantage without helping the opponent). If there are 5-cost units that generate value without giving the opponent material—such as ones that create multiple tokens for you, remove a unit on play, or provide scaling pressure—those would generally be stronger in competitive environments; however, if the meta is heavy on targeted removal, Walking Roost’s built-in protection could justify inclusion as a sticky midgame threat.
