Firestorm, Spell, designed by Kudos Productions first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Proving Grounds.
Firestorm fits best in a control or midrange control deck that aims to stall the board and win through inevitability, as its 6-cost “Deal 3 to all enemy units at a battlefield” effect is strong against swarm, token, or aggressive creature-heavy strategies that commit multiple low- to mid-health units to one lane. It’s particularly valuable in slower decks that can afford a turn-six reset and that don’t rely on flooding the same battlefield themselves. However, its effectiveness depends heavily on the meta: if many key threats have more than 3 health, or if enemies spread across multiple battlefields, it becomes less efficient. Cards that either deal 4+ damage, scale with spell power, affect multiple battlefields, or cost less for similar damage would generally be stronger, especially if they provide flexibility (such as targeted removal plus splash damage). Overall, Firestorm should see play in metas dominated by wide boards of 3-health units, but it may be replaced in optimized lists
