About Shock Blast
Shock Blast, Spell, designed by Kudos Productions first released in Jul, 2026 in the set Vendetta.
Shock Blast is best in an **Empowered-based midrange or tempo deck** that can reliably have an Empowered unit in play, since it becomes a highly efficient 1-cost answer to most early- and mid-game units while still being usable during showdowns; it is especially appealing for decks that want to protect a battlefield push or remove a defender without spending much energy. Outside of Empowered decks, paying 3 for four damage is respectable but not exceptional, so it competes poorly with cheaper, more conditional interaction or removal that advances your own game plan. There is not necessarily a strictly better card in every deck, but any removal spell that costs less without requiring Empowered, or that can hit larger units/players while fitting your rune package, can be preferable in non-Empowered lists. It should see play as a targeted removal staple in decks that can consistently enable its discount, but probably not as an automatic inclusion in decks that cannot.
