Shadow Fiend is best in an aggressive Fury-based deck—especially one that can reliably produce extra Energy—because it is a cheap early unit that can later turn into a serious battlefield threat with Assault 3, letting it win battles and pressure opponents at battlefields; it is less attractive in reactive/control shells that do not want to spend two Energy empowering a small unit. Whether a specific card is “better” depends heavily on Shadow Fiend’s printed Might, domain requirements, and the available format card pool, but cards that provide immediate Might, Assault, or other combat value without requiring the extra :rb_energy_2::rb_rune_fury: investment will generally be more efficient in pure aggro lists. Shadow Fiend should see play as a role-player rather than an automatic staple: use it if your deck is already Fury-focused, wants cheap attackers, and can afford the Empower cost, but cut it if your deck needs more immediate or reliable impact.
