Introduction and the Leaks

This weekend, several alleged Radiance leaks surfaced on social media, which ignited the Riftbound community. Let’s take a look at what was "revealed" and what the new set could bring us!

Spoiler alert!

Warning: nothing below has been confirmed and cannot be treated as an official reveal.

Legend: Seraphine Starry-Eyed Songstress

As an additional cost to play a spell, you may exhaust me and three friendly units to reduce the cost of that spell by 2.

Seraphine appears to be a mix of Lux and Viktor: a Legend that works really well when there are several units on the board and when you play expensive spells.

Her effect fits the Seraphine Riot revealed in the SKT bundle quite well.

Seraphine, Not Alone's effect activates when she is exhausted. It puts several tokens in your base, so it allows you to use Seraphine Starry-Eyed Songstress's effect.

Legend: Evelynn Agony’s Embrace

Once each turn, when you play a card from face down, draw 1. Then, if it’s not your turn, discard 1.

Evelynn is supposedly coming to Riftbound as a Legend that centers around Hidden cards. She's quite different for an orange legend and could change this domain's identity quite a lot.

Her effect works really well with her Hidden champion card, Evelynn, Entrancing, which only activates if she is revealed on your turn. In other words, she combos with the Legend’s effect but doesn't trigger its drawback.

If this is real, Evelynn could impact the game and how we approach orange decks considerably.

Champion: Neeko Blending In

The most talked about leak of all was Neeko, which could be Riftbound’s first neutral card.

If Neeko is in your deck, choose 3 different legends in addition to your starter legend. When you play me, choose one of those Legends and add it to your Legend Zone while I'm on the board.

Her effect is incredibly unique and powerful, and could completely change how we build decks in general.

If she is real, she could easily become one of the most widely played, important, and competitive cards in the entire game, and it's all thanks to her ability to swap your Legend during the game.

You could set up millions of different combos with this effect and pull off bizarre interactions that might even break the game.

However, Neeko’s effect is so wild that, for now, it is raising more questions than answers. We’ll have to wait and see whether it is real and how it works in practice to give the final verdict.

Champion: Kai’Sa Rebel

Disarm - While I am in a Showdown, your spells have Reaction.

This card could also break the game, particular when it comes to some interactions. "Blue Kai'Sa" makes your spells work at Reaction speed.

She also has a new keyword that we’ll discuss shortly.

If it is real, could we get another Kai’Sa Legend as well? Probably not, since Riot has already confirmed that the next red and blue Legend is Ekko.

Kai’Sa Rebel might just be a standalone champion in this set. Even if that is all she is, her effect is extremely powerful, and, depending on how much she costs and her Might, she could find a place in the meta quite easily.

New Keywords

As you must have noticed when we talked about Kai’Sa Rebel, Disarm is an alleged new keyword. When this unit attacks, decrease the might of an enemy unit here. This is very similar to Ahri, Inquisitive's effect, and, in practice, it's the opposite of Assault.

Deploy - Play this Gear only to a battlefield and will grant benefits while there. When an opponent holds that battlefield, kill this Gear. This is a very unique effect, as it implies that your opponent can control some of your Gears. Supposedly, this Gear will still benefit you even when your opponent controls that battlefield. However, if your opponent scores a Holding point on that battlefield, they'll also destroy this Gear.

Showoff - As you play this, you may reveal a card from hand or choose a friendly card that meets the listed criteria. The card’s effect will change based on what is shown off. This effect is still quite confusing for now because we are yet to see anything showing how it works in practice, even in terms of leaks. Still, it could be interesting, as revealing cards is quite common in the meta right now.
