About Puncturing Blow
Puncturing Blow, Sorcery, designed by Eric Deschamps first released in May, 2020 in the set Hour of Devastation and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
This card, Puncturing Blow, would be beneficial in a red aggressive deck looking to quickly remove threats from the opponent's board. While it provides efficient removal with the potential for exile, there are stronger options like Lightning Bolt or Incinerate that offer similar damage output at a lower mana cost. Puncturing Blow could see play in limited formats where removal options are limited, but in constructed formats, it may not be the optimal choice due to its higher mana cost compared to more efficient alternatives.
Rules
07/14/17
Puncturing Blow’s replacement effect will exile the target creature if it would die this turn for any reason, not just due to lethal damage. It applies to the target creature even if Puncturing Blow deals no damage to it (due to a prevention effect) or Puncturing Blow deals damage to a different creature (due to a redirection effect).
