Starhound is best suited for a midrange or value‑oriented tribal deck that runs a critical mass of Birds, Cats, Dogs, or Poros and expects those units to trade off early, since its 5‑cost body effectively turns into card advantage by rebuying an important synergy piece or key threat; it’s especially solid in grindy metas where recursion and hand refill matter more than tempo. However, in faster or more competitive environments, a 5‑cost conditional recursion effect may be too slow compared to cheaper or more flexible revival/value tools (such as lower‑cost units that recur any creature type, spells that return units directly to play instead of hand, or multi‑card draw engines that don’t require tribal constraints), which would generally be stronger if available in your format.
