Introduction

Today, we'll explore The Reckoning, the next Riftbound set (as well as Set 7), which was revealed quite recently.

This set will center around Behemoths and Giants, and thus, according to Riot, will bring the largest League of Legends champions into Riftbound.

Let's go over everything we know so far about The Reckoning and also explore some theories.

The Reckoning: What We Know So Far

This set will introduce 9 new legends:

Aurelion Sol

Cho’Gath

Shyvana

Vayne

Zilean

The other 4 have yet to be revealed.

It is set for release on April 30th, 2027. The Pre-Rift events are also scheduled for April 23rd to 29th, 2027.

According to Riot, this set will highlight some of the largest and most powerful League of Legends champions, but that's mostly it. They didn't show too much of anything yet besides the champions above.

The Reckoning is also strongly connected to Legacy, the previous set, though exactly how it is connected still remains a mystery. Riot stated that they will reveal how these two sets are connected during the first State of the Game video in 2027. When this set does release, though, it will include 264 new cards in all, including 67 Showcase versions with special artworks.

So far, what we really know about this set is that there will be new versions for the legends with artworks inspired by comic books from the 80s and 90s. Riot has already named these art styles "BlockBuster", as seen above.

The Reckoning Theories

Another Set Centered Around Opposite Domains

Image content of the Website

Just like Vendetta, The Reckoning will only have 9 legends, which leads some players to believe that these legends will feature opposite domains as well.

It makes a lot of sense for Aurelion Sol, for instance, one of the legends that were revealed, as he really fits both orange and blue. There are already blue cards in Riftbound that reference this champion, and many dragons that were part of his archetype in LoR are orange in Riftbound.

Vayne could also show up in opposite domains. There is already a red champion Vayne, and "hypercarry ADC" characters are often green (see Caitlyn and Aphelios).

Neeko

In the first The Reckoning promo artworks, we can see 3 silhouettes inside Aurelion Sol's mouth.

Zilean, who has already been confirmed as a new legend, is in the middle. Vayne is to the right, and she has already been confirmed as well.

On the left, we can see the silhouette of a character that really resembles Neeko, so she could be one of the new legends in this set.

She could come in opposite domains, as she fits both yellow and purple.

Malphite or Galio

As this set centers around big characters, obviously the first thing that came to many of us was that Malphite and Galio would be included as new legends.

There are already champion Galios in the game. This character is also getting exclusive alternative special artworks to celebrate T1's 6th League of Legends championship.

As for Malphite, he is one of the largest characters in the game in size. Furthermore, considering the many rocks we can see in The Reckoning promo artworks and the main theme, it's likely that he will be one of the new legends in this set as well.
