Introduction

Kennen is the last legend in Vendetta, as well as the first purple/yellow card in the game.

Riot partially revealed his legend card and purple champion unit, as well as other support cards, in a teaser a few hours before the Vendetta spoiler season officially began.

Let's go over all of these cards and see how a Kennen archetype could work in Riftbound.

Kennen - Heart of the Tempest

Straight away, you can tell that Kennen strategies will center around combos, playing cards directly from the trash pile or the deck itself (probably just from the trash, considering the cards we'll see below).

Whenever you play a card from outside your hand, Kennen lets you exhaust him and grant Assault 2 to a unit.

It seems interesting, but we will probably only use it in the mid to late game. Assault 2 could be incredibly strong, particularly if the idea is to break enemy defenses and particularly because it barely costs anything.

Depending on the other Kennen support cards and what Riot will release in purple and yellow, we might be able to use this effect early on. This would make Kennen an excellent legend, in particular if you need to "come back" into the game after your opponent opened better than you.

Without the other cards in this set, we can't really rate this card that accurately. However, considering how powerful this color combination is, and how this deck will probably work, we can say that Kennen will most likely be at the top of the meta.

Kennen Storm of Shuriken

This purple Kennen champion is absurdly strong.

It costs 3 energy and 1 power but has premium stats, as it has 4 might. When you play it, you'll burn the top 2 cards in your deck, which seems to interact with the main mechanic in this strategy: filling your trash with cards so that you can play them later.

Kennen Storm of Shuriken gives a spell in your trash Flow when it conquers a battlefield. Flow is a new keyword that lets you play a card from the trash for a different cost.

Kennen gives a spell in your trash pile Flow equal to its cost, but you must banish this card right after you play it.

This unit is incredibly versatile. Its cost, stats, and effects are incredible and will certainly make it the main core and engine in this purple/yellow strategy. I can already tell that Kennen's yellow champion unit will have to be incredibly strong to compete for the Champion Zone slot with Kennen Storm of Shuriken.

Lightning Rush

Kennen's signature spell is a 1-cost card that seems to work like a Stacked Deck. However, instead of recycling cards, you'll send them to your trash.

You may pay Flow (1 energy and 1 power) to play this spell from your trash, then banish it right afterward.

Without a question, this is another tool that will make this list a lot more consistent, as it gives you more ways to play Flow cards and also lets you sift through the top cards in your deck.

All of this, however, is speculation. As the video doesn't show everything it does, we might be missing some key information.

Shadows of the Past

This card clearly belongs to Zed's archetype, but it will be quite strong in Kennen lists because they'll burn lots of cards and fill the trash pile quite quickly.

This spell will make this deck more consistent and allow you to keep playing your combos, particularly by putting in play the units you sent to your trash.
