About Eager Apprentice
Eager Apprentice, Unit, designed by Six More Vodka first released in Mar, 2026 in the set Origins.
Eager Apprentice fits best in spell-dense combo or control decks that rely on chaining multiple low-to-mid cost spells in a single turn, since the repeatable cost reduction (even with a minimum of 1) greatly improves tempo and enables explosive sequencing; it’s especially strong in lists built around energy efficiency, spell-trigger synergies, or storm-style win conditions. However, it’s weaker in creature-heavy midrange or aggro decks where spell count is low, and it can be outclassed by cards that either reduce costs without a floor, generate direct energy, or provide both cost reduction and board impact (for example, a support unit that reduces the first spell each turn to 0, or a relic that passively grants extra energy each turn, would generally be stronger due to resilience and broader value). Whether it should see play depends on the format’s speed and removal density: in slower, spell-centric metas it’s a strong engine piece worth including, but in fast or removal-heavy environ
