Aspiring Engineer would fit best in a midrange or value-oriented Gear-synergy deck that frequently cycles, sacrifices, or discards Gear cards, since it effectively turns your trash into a secondary resource and generates card advantage when played; it’s especially strong in grindy matchups where recurring key equipment or combo pieces matters more than tempo. However, in faster aggro lists it’s likely too slow for a 3‑cost play unless the Gear it retrieves has immediate impact, and in control decks it competes with more efficient recursion or draw engines if those exist (for example, a cheaper Gear-recursion unit, a spell that returns multiple Gears, or a unit that both recovers a Gear and provides stronger board presence would generally be better).
