**Towering Combatant** fits best in a midrange or control-style Riftbound deck that wants to stall the board and win through attrition, since Shield 2 plus +2 :rb_might: while defending makes it an efficient defensive wall and Tank forces opponents to chew through it before damaging more valuable units; it’s particularly strong in strategies that reward prolonged combat phases or protect backline engines. That said, if the format includes lower-cost Tank units with comparable durability or 4-cost threats that generate immediate value (such as on-play effects, scaling pressure, or removal attached to a body), those are often better because Towering Combatant is purely reactive and doesn’t advance your win condition on its own. It should see play in slower metas where board combat matters and aggressive decks are common, but in faster or combo-heavy environments, more proactive or value-generating 4-drops will generally outperform it.
