Mulldrifter is a versatile card that can benefit a control or midrange deck in Magic: the Gathering due to its card draw and flying ability. While it provides card advantage and can be evoked for a cheaper cost, there are other cards like Sphinx of Foresight or Torrential Gearhulk that offer more impactful effects for their mana cost, making Mulldrifter less optimal in competitive play but still a solid choice for casual or budget decks.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you’re paying (such as an evoke cost), add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined by only its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast that spell was.

Evoke is an alternative cost to cast the spell with evoke. It can’t be combined with other alternative costs, such as casting a spell “without paying its mana cost.”

If a creature with evoke enters the battlefield without being cast, you won’t have to sacrifice it.
