IntroductionImage via Riftbound ReportNasus's base kit has been revealed, and he is already thought to be one of the worst characters in the entire game.Let's see why this archetype will probably not see any play and find out whether there's a chance it won't be the absolute worst in the game.Nasus - Curator of the SandsThis legend comes with an extremely nerfed version of Annie's effect. Readying 2 runes after spending 7 energy or more is somewhat interesting, but it will only be relevant at the end of the game.Nowadays, there are only a few cards in these colors that can make this effect work. In fact, blue and green are known for their cheap spells and for needing a lot of Power. to work. This means that you might not even be able to use this card's effect because you won't have enough energy. So, Nasus is pretty counterintuitive for his colors, and, as we'll see soon, the rest of his kit doesn't exactly make him viable.Nasus - Guardian of KnowlegdeThis is probably the champion unit you'll play in your champion zone if you decide to play Nasus. His effect fits Nasus's main game plan: put big units in play and ramp runes. The problem is that it is too conditional. You can only ramp runes with it if you kill an enemy unit where Nasus Guardian of Knowledge is. And, besides everything, you can only activate this effect once per turn. This unit doesn't have any positive keywords and also costs 1 Power. Still, it is a little better than the other Nasus champion.Nasus - AscendedNasus Ascended is probably the worst champion unit in the game. He needs 16 energy and 1 Power to score an extra point when he conquers a battlefield. As this setup needs more energy than you can spend in a single turn, you'll always have to set it up throughout different turns. Like so, it is one of the slowest cards in the game, if not the slowest. Not to mention, your legend's effect doesn't work with this card. You can't untap 2 runes after you play Nasus Ascended to activate his Empower. After all, even if you have 12 runes, you'll always end up with 6 ready runes after playing Nasus Ascended and activating your legend. You'll still need 2 runes to pay for your champion unit's Empower (which costs 8).It does have Deflect 2, but it just gives your opponent too much space to answer you.Considering how this strategy should work, conquering a battlefield and scoring 2 points might not be enough. Because of how slow it is, you're better off playing Ahri Alluring, which scores 2 points by holding battlefields. Nasus will just get stuck on a battlefield and will probably be removed again and again.Siphoning StrikeThe best card in Nasus's kit is his signature spell. It's a strong removal that doesn't need power to enter play. It can remove Vex Apathetic and other key cards, like Sona, very easily. At the end of the game, once you have 7 runes or more, you can practically remove any unit on a battlefield with it, and quite easily too.The problem with this card is that it is tied to this archetype, and this, in turn, will probably be one of the weakest strategies in the game. It might be decent, but it won't see much play because these decks are just subpar. What To Expect From This ArchetypeRiot is yet to reveal the last half of the set, and, so far, the support cards for this archetype seem as weak as Nasus's support cards. So far, no unit or spell that costs 7 or more, besides the ones we reviewed on this article, is in these colors. So, there is probably at least one card to be revealed that will certainly be a part of this deck.Still, this entire strategy will hardly see any play because the units are just too weak and the effects too slow.As it seems, the next meta will be a bit faster. It will center around decks that do a lot each turn, like playing cards from the Trash, drawing a lot of cards, and using cheap units and spells all the time.Because this archetype is just too different from that sort of meta, it will need something consistent to stop the faster decks. This card will probably never come, considering that, so far, nothing seems to fit. This deck is, right now, considered the worst in the game, but only time will tell for certain. Once new cards are revealed, it might become a decent rogue pick to answer a specific meta. We'll have to wait.Final WordsWhat do you think?
