IntroductionToday, we'll talk about one of my go-to decks, Azir. We'll see which new cards from Vendetta found their way into this archetype and how they change this deck. We'll also discuss this list's future in the meta and show you why Azir could remain one of the best decks in the game and even become even better.Azir Vendetta - Even BetterDeck LinkThis version only plays two new cards from Vendetta in the main deck: Hand Hammer and Resonating Strike.Hand HammerHand Hammer is an interesting equipment card. At first, it didn't stand out to Azir players. But, after a few of them tested it out, it proved to be strong. You can activate its effect somewhat regularly in this list, particularly in the mid-game.Though it is conditional and relatively expensive compared to other equipment cards, Hand Hammer works like a Brutalizer. You can use it defensively. This card interacts really well with Eye of the Herald and helps you conquer/defend battlefields in the mid-game.The downside is that you can't draw it early on. Otherwise, it might "brick" your opening hand and create a big problem for you in terms of "tempo".Resonating StrikeThis spell is ridiculously strong. In the future, this archetype could even end up playing even more copies of it.It lets you defend your battlefields, catching the opponent off guard and bringing a Sand Soldier from somewhere else into a Showdown. It works like a Guards! you play Hidden, but it'll also give +2 Might to the unit you move into combat, which is much better than the stats you get from Guards!.If we analyze this comparison closely, here's what we get. Guards! can create a Sand Soldier, equip a "B.F." sword, and defend your battlefield with 5 Might. Resonating Strike can pull a Sand Soldier that already has a "B.F." sword equipped into a Showdown, and that Sand Soldier will defend that battlefield with 7 Might. The only problem with this card is that you need more than one allied unit on a battlefield to use it, which is actually not a problem for this deck. In some cases, however, you might end up "bricking" because you don't have another unit to target in play. What to Expect From Azir in VendettaOverall, Azir should become stronger in this meta because it won't be affected negatively by any new card or deck.It performs really well against new lists and no new card directly counters its main strategy. However, the most important part is that some of Azir's most troublesome opponents, like Holding decks in general and Master Yi, got weaker and less popular as the new cards came out.Green lists might struggle in this meta because the new set introduced effects that can't be countered, like Mel, strong removals to beat Holding strategies, and decks that play many giant units, which are naturally strong against green lists. So, Azir could be in a really good place in the meta right now. It might even become one of the top 3 best decks in the game.SideboardWe added a copy of Decree of Unity and Decree of Focus. These two cards could fit the 2 extra sideboard slots really well in this meta. But everything is subject to change. It all depends on the meta. Decree of Unity might be terrible and do absolutely nothing in this meta because it's too slow. So, we highly recommend you test out this deck with two Decree of Focus so that your matchups against red decks are drastically better.Final WordsWhat do you think?
